OTTAWA, ON (September 29, 2011) — Today Harold Albrecht tabled legislation in the House of Commons that, if passed, will compel the Government to develop a federal framework for suicide prevention.
“Each year, well over three thousand Canadians commit suicide. That is not a tragedy -- that is well over three thousand tragedies each year. Many of these tragedies are preventable.”
The Bill is titled An Act respecting a Federal Framework for Suicide Prevention and would require the Government to, among other things,

This week, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada introduced the Safe Streets and Communities Act, comprehensive legislation that will target crime and terrorism and provide support and protection to victims of crime.
"I am proud today to announce that our Government has fulfilled its commitment to Canadians to bring forward legislation to make our streets, families and communities safer," said Minister Nicholson. "We campaigned on a promise to get tough on child sexual offenders, crack down on illegal drug trafficking, and improve the overall efficiency of our judicial system. Canadians gave us a strong mandate to bring forward these reforms."

On Wednesday, June 8th, Harold Albrecht delivered his first Members' Statement of the 41st Parliament. He thanked voters for their support during the recent campaign; and continued on to thank the thousands of Canadians and MPs from all parties who reached out to offer compassion after the tragic death of Harold's wife Betty.

Today Prime Minister Stephen Harper confirmed the Government’s caucus leadership team. Harold Albrecht, Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Conestoga was named Deputy Government Whip, a position he held in the previous Parliament.
