Text of Harold thanking Prime Minister Harper for investing up to $265 million in our community's continued growth:

"Thank you, Prime Minister.

"After working on this file for more than four years, I canâ€™t tell you how pleased I am to see this day arrive.

"We are a vibrant, growing community that is running out of room to grow. For our prosperity to continue, we need to grow up, not sprawl out.

"With Rapid Transit, the Region of Waterloo will be able to plan responsibly to accommodate this growth, and maintain our quality of life. With your commitment today, our local partners can chart a brilliant future for our communities.

"Prime Minister â€“ for believing in that brilliant future -- for making rapid transit possible in Waterloo Region; and for meeting our commitment to support our local partners, we thank you."
